Editor's review
This lets you create and print barcodes. You are able to use standard printers, there is no need for any special one.
LabelJoy is a software that lets you create and print labels, envelopes, badges, cards, letters and anything else that needs to be fully or partially replicated and printed. It has a full WYSIWYG user interface. Using the mouse, thus, is possible to make the necessary adjustments and have an immediate visual feedback on how the elements will be printed. LabelJoy allows importing data from external data sources such as Access, Excel, Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Sendblaster, dbf files, csv files, text files, wk1-2-3 files and professional database systems such as SQL Server, MySQL and Oracle. It includes over 6,500 layout templates. This covers most of the precut adhesive label printing stationary available in the market. Once you choose the type, the tool will take care of the printing and the users do not have to spend time organizing the print layout. You can print on A4, A5, A6 label sheets or any custom paper format also.
The software is able to use the newer graphical functions offered by Windows, introduced with Windows XP but backward compatible, that enable the user to create complex fading, transparency and rotation effects. It can thus create more sophisticated labels easily. It can also connect to external data sources to create labels with dynamic information. Page elements, counters, label numbers, page numbers are easily managed and you are able to choose between centimeters and inches as units. The tool is available in a range of languages. If you do have barcode needs in Windows environment for whatever purpose, this looks like a good fit. Take advantage of the trial period.
After trying it out for 2 batches of labels I had a few more queries so emailed the queries to Label Joy but this time NO answer to my queries...well not yet. May be I am impatient.
I have found the on-board help/index to be somewhat unhelpfull. Lots of subject headings but none seemed to be on the spot for giving me the help I needed. There needs to be a well written getting started section that I was unable to find if it exists. When you do actually get to print your labels in trial version it upsets the location of the text on the labels! This makes the labels that you do print basically useless! Along with this is over printing the labels with their name and web address in fine print. It is good that the trial is free but basically useless if you want to use them.
Having said that I am assured that theh over-printing does not happen when you buy a copy and the printing will appear correctly on the label when you actually go to print them. If all this is true then it as a good package doing labels, very flexile with a large range of labels and ability to customize. Loading data from MS Access and other popular products is also very good.
In summary I might buy but will wait to see if my last queries gets answered one of which was about the warranty. My rating 2.5 stars.
